‘Raise Me Up’ is about Skyler’s struggles with depression.

Skyler released ‘Raise Me Up’ in September of 2016, National Suicide Prevention Month, to share his story in hopes that others can be impacted about the growing problem of depression and suicide.

The song represents his journey out of the dark. Music was Skyler’s outlet during this time. It was a place and way for him to emote his pain.

THE MAKING OF RAISE ME UP

Skyler wrote, recorded, produced, and released ‘Raise Me Up’ on his own.

The song received nearly 1000 plays on Spotify in its first night, and over 2000 plays in its first week.

With the song, he also produced his first music video with Jessika Hardy. The video was made with $23, and was largely shot on an iPhone. The video was shot underwater to represent one “drowning” in themselves and their emotions.
